The project aimed at demonstrating the multiple developmental and environmental wins that result from a high value biocarbon approach (BIODEV project) to climate change and variability in large landscapes. The Programme also built local institutions and capacity to be able to sustain the benefits in the project sites and established linkages with related initiatives to jointly scale up the approaches into other programmes and projects.  The Project generated critical information to fill the global knowledge gaps on how to better link climate change mitigation and adaptation thrusts and effectively enhance livelihoods.  Our role was to improve strategies and policies and conduct trainings and capacity development at the national and international levels with particular focus on supporting the effective participation of the project countries to the UNFCCC process.
