1. Climate Change Mitigation Analyst – Ottawa, Canada
Job Summary:
The Climate Change Mitigation Analyst will support Fokabs work on low-carbon development and investments across different sectors (renewable energy, sustainable transport, land-use, smart cities and green buildings, etc.). The Analyst will conduct research and compile data on Green House Gas Emissions across different sectors/ Industries to identify and propose low carbon solutions to various clients.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Participate in data collection and analysis related to carbon footprints, low-carbon development pathways and zero-net emission future.
- Analyzes existing GHG trends, climate legislations, regulations, policies, and practices within the context of NDCs, Article 6 of the Paris Climate Agreement, National Low Carbon Strategies/ Policies and specific initiatives such as REDD+, NAMA, ITMO, to inform and provide advice on climate mitigation solutions.
- Support the coordination of mitigation business development across different industries.
- Support climate mitigation project implementation.
- Report progress on the climate mitigation actions of Fokabs and external projects.
- Evaluate climate mitigation funding applications and work closely with other team members and external partners to develop technical proposals.
- Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of mitigation projects, programs, and initiatives of various clients.
- Communicates project findings to clients through written reports and presentations.
- Advise clients regarding climate change mitigation and other environmental issues through studies, reports, memoranda, briefs, testimonies, or other written materials.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of environmental science and climate change.
- Knowledge about climate change mitigation process, actions or policies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge and experience in scientific writing and publication will be an asset.
- Excellent data analysis and scientific research skills.
- Continuous learning mindset (professional curiosity).
- Ability to work in both English and French languages is an advantage.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geography, International Development, physics, or related field.

2. Climate Change Adaptation Analyst – Ottawa, Canada
Job Summary:
The Climate Change Adaptation Analyst will support Fokabs work on climate-resilient development and investments across different sectors (climate-smart agriculture, ecosystem and ecosystem services, nature-based solutions, infrastructure and built environment, livelihoods, health/food/water security etc.). The Analyst will conduct scientific research and compile statistical data to identify issues/ trends and propose science/technology/nature-based climate change adaptation solutions to different projects, sectors and clients.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct research to inform climate-resilient project development and implementation
- Analyze climate impacts such as droughts, floods, forest fires, seal level rise, coastal erosion, insect infestation, heat waves to develop solutions for businesses, governments, NGOs and communities
- Analyzes existing climate vulnerabilities and risks and related climate legislations, regulations, policies, and practices to inform climate adaptation solutions in the context of NDC, NAP, Adaptation Reporting under the UNFCCC/ Paris Climate Agreement, Adaptation project under GCF
- Support the coordination of adaptation related business development initiatives including access to dedicated climate funds such as the GCF, Least Developed Country Fund (LDCF), Adaptation Fund
- Report progress on the climate adaptation actions of Fokabs and external projects
- Evaluate climate adaptation funding applications and working closely with other team members and external partners to develop technical proposals.

3. ESG Analyst – Ottawa, Canada
Job Summary:
We are looking for an Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Analyst to join our team. The Analyst will be working with Fokabs experts and clients to bring positive change around the world on the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Climate Change agenda for governments, businesses, and communities. The Analyst will conduct research and provide solutions related to greenhouse gas emissions, and climate vulnerability and risk as a sustainability issue that is likely to be material for many industries.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct surveys of public or private sector to gather ESG information
- Develop methodologies to implement ESG data collection across multiple companies
- Compile and digitize corporate sustainability data related to ESG
- Support complex technical accounting activities related to ESG
- Perform research, stakeholder engagement, and analysis as part of ESG risk and opportunity analyses
- Perform sustainability-related evaluations and testing of ESG data and processes and related controls
- Assist in developing appropriate disclosures in accordance with approved ESG reporting standards and frameworks
- Carry out qualitative and quantitative research using ESG data
- Participate in client meetings and assist in preparation of deliverables and reports
- Support business development and identify opportunities for value creation based on the understanding of client challenges and an independent point of view

4. Green Project Co-coordinator – Ottawa, Canada
Job Summary:
As a Green Project Coordinator, you will be supporting the new strategic goals of the company especially in the area of project implementation and interaction with clients and consultants. The Co-Ordinator will work on green projects across different sectors such as renewable energy, green buildings, smart cities, sustainable transport, forest, land-use, climate-smart agriculture, ecosystem, and ecosystem services, built environment, infrastructure, livelihoods and rural development etc. Examples of current Fokabs projects to be coordinated: Review of Green Climate Change funding proposals submitted by accredited entities; Climate technology need assessments and action plan with the UNIDO; REDD+ safeguards information system and social and environmental impact assessment with the World Bank; Climate change vulnerability assessment and adaptation options of national parks; NDC reporting under the Paris Agreement; Evaluation of UNDP-led National Adaptation Plans (NAPs); Revision of NDC managed by UNDP; etc.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Think green throughout Fokabs projects and make decisions that take into account the impact on the environment – if any;
- Take a leading role in the implementation of climate adaptation and mitigation projects;
- Coordinate and manage the execution of project tasks by Fokabs experts in the field of renewable energy, energy efficiency, climate-smart agriculture, climate-smart mining, nature-bases solutions to climate change, green buildings and smart cities, ecosystem-based adaptation and ecosystem services, forest and land-based mitigation, sustainable transport, green infrastructure and built environment, waste management and recycling, and climate resilient rural development;
- Manage daily tasks by dealing with client requests, supporting climate change adaptation and mitigation project implementation and guiding the technical project team;
- Collaborate with the other departments in further developing our business services in environmental / biodiversity protection, environmental and social impact assessment,
- Analyze technical green project requirements and take appropriate steps to meet them;
- Perform other related tasks as deemed necessary
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be bilingual (English and French);
- 1 year of professional experience in the administration and management of contracts or projects;
- Work ethics, dynamism and multi-tasking abilities;
- Advanced use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PPT;
