Country: Central African Republic (CAR)
The government, through the GCF National Designated Authority (NDA), and with the support of the Global Water Partnership as Delivery Partner, has obtained a GCF Readiness Assistance and the main expected outputs are:
- Implementation of a climate finance monitoring tool for the DNA;
- Stakeholders are trained in GCF protocols and procedures and in the financial structuring of GCF project proposals;
- Two (2) gender and social inclusion sensitive GCF concept notes for water responsive adaptation projects are submitted to the GCF;
- A gender and social inclusion assessment of CAR’s priority project portfolio.
Fokabs’ mission is to train stakeholders on the protocols, procedures and requirements of the GCF, the financial structuring of GCF project proposals, and the roles of the respective stakeholders in the project development and implementation process.
Specifically, Fokabs is responsible for:
- Mapping key stakeholders in GCF programming in CAR;
- Assess the current level of knowledge and capacity building needs of stakeholders in GCF programming;
- Based on the assessment, develop training materials to introduce the GCF, its funding windows, protocols and engagement procedures, and to strengthen stakeholders’ understanding of the requirements of the GCF project, and stakeholders’ roles in the project development and implementation process.
- Facilitate 3 training workshops (one for the private sector, one for civil society and one for government institutions).
