Leveraging the success of the Cocoa & Forests Initiative (CFI) in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana, WCF is now leading scoping assessments to determine the potential expansion of CFI into other geographies, including Cameroon. In the past, WCF has led numerous productivity and livelihoods programs in Cameroon including The WCF Cocoa Livelihoods Program (CLP) and African Cocoa Initiative. To help assess the opportunity for CFI expansion into Cameroon, the scoping assessment will determine the value-added potential, as well as risks and partners for CFI’s expansion.

The general objective of this workshop is for the government of Cameroon to understand how CFI is being managed until date, their successes, challenges, lessons learned and recommendations to the government bench of Cameroon. And the government of Cameroon sharing their experience with the roadmap to deforestation free cocoa.

Specifically, to:

• Share the success story of Cote D’Ivoire CFI with Government Officials in Cameroon,
• Showcase enabling policies in Cote D’Ivoire that were key in facilitating the implementation of CFI,
• Share challenges that CFI Cote D’Ivoire has faced and how they have been overcome or are being addressed,
• Strategy used to win the private sector to fully participate in CFI Cote d’Ivoire
• Recommendations for CFI Cameroon
• Which private-public structures are involved in the roadmap.
• Discuss the potential challenges and the existing state of enabling conditions in Cameroon such as policies for successful implementation of CFI in Cameroon,
• Discuss potential alignment between CFI and the Roadmap to Deforestation Free Cocoa

 The FOKABS team is leading the development of the CFI Scoping Assessment for Cameroon on behalf of the World Cocoa Foundation. A very important part of this process is conducting interviews with key stakeholders on their knowledge of the cocoa supply chain and sustainability efforts within Cameroon and their overall opinion of the value of CFI expansion. Also, with the support of WCF and IDH Cameroon, organize an online government – to government learning exchange workshop between Cameroon and Cote D’Ivoire and Ghana.
