This workshop introduced civil engineering students, including those from École Nationale Supérieure des Travaux Publics de Yaoundé to the transformative role of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in construction project management. It covered core BIM concepts, its integration into project workflows, and its impact on planning, coordination, and execution. Through hands-on exercises, students gained practical experience in using BIM to enhance efficiency, mitigate risks, and improve decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
The session also explored research opportunities, guiding students in identifying niche areas such as BIM for risk assessment, cost optimization, digital twin technology, and automation in project management. Discussions focused on how BIM enables data-driven decision-making and fosters innovation in construction research.
The workshop concluded with discussions on practical strategies for applying BIM in real-world construction management scenarios. Additionally, it highlighted career opportunities in BIM-related roles and how mastering BIM can significantly enhance employability in the construction industry.
