This workshop introduced students from Institut Universitaire de la Côte, Douala to the transformative role of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in Smart City Development. It covered fundamental BIM concepts, its integration with digital technologies, and its impact on urban planning, infrastructure management, and sustainable city development. Through hands-on exercises, students explored how BIM enhances efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and resilience in smart city projects.
The workshop also highlighted key research opportunities, helping students identify niche areas such as BIM for intelligent urban mobility, energy-efficient smart buildings, digital twins for city planning, and AI-driven urban analytics. Discussions focused on how BIM enables interdisciplinary collaboration, real-time data integration, and innovative solutions for smart and sustainable cities.
The session concluded with practical strategies for applying BIM in urban development projects. Additionally, the workshop emphasized career opportunities in BIM-driven smart city initiatives and how mastering these digital technologies can enhance employability in the evolving urban development and construction industries.
