Country: Chad

The Paris Agreement and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) have placed climate finance at the heart of action for sustainable development. Developing countries, particularly Francophone nations, have a crucial need to access these funds to implement their mitigation and adaptation projects. However, they often face a major challenge: a lack of capacity and knowledge to develop bankable projects and navigate the complex processes of climate funds, such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The “Institut de la Francophonie pour le Développement Durable” (IFDD), mandated to build the capacity of Francophone actors, initiated a Readiness programme aimed at bridging this gap. This project was part of that programme to capitalize on acquired knowledge and disseminate it effectively.

Role of Fokabs:
Fokabs role is to develop and coordinate a comprehensive knowledge management system in order to disseminate information on best practices in climate action and financing to the NDA and other beneficiaries associated with this readiness programme. Our mission included several key areas:

  • Development of Educational Content:Design and writing of a synthesis guide on best practices for private sector engagement in climate finance, intended for National Designated Authorities (NDAs). Development of an online training module and training materials to create a knowledge system focused on climate change and climate finance.
  • Capacity Building and Training:Organization and facilitation of a training workshop. Development of assessment tools (pre- and post-workshop surveys) and issuance of certificates to trained participants.
  • Coordination and Quality Assurance:Management of the entire knowledge development process, ensuring the quality, relevance, and accessibility of the produced content for Francophone beneficiaries.
