This workshop introduced architecture students from ESSACA to the emerging role of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in addressing global challenges in the built environment. It covered fundamental BIM concepts, its integration into architectural design, and its impact on planning, coordination, and resource optimization. Through hands-on exercises, students explored how BIM can enhance efficiency, reduce environmental impacts, and promote climate resilience in building design and management.

The workshop also highlighted research opportunities, helping students identify niche areas such as BIM for sustainable design, energy performance modeling, bio-based materials, and BIM integration in smart cities. Discussions focused on how BIM can support an innovative, data-driven approach to tackling today’s environmental challenges.

The session concluded with discussions on practical strategies for applying BIM in architectural design and urban planning. Additionally, the workshop emphasized career opportunities in BIM-related professions and how mastering this technology can enhance architects’ employability in a rapidly evolving industry.
